Oregon has an “F” in government transparency.
Our state has been dominated by one party for nearly thirty years. Sadly, we have seen corruption creep into the top levels of our state. Our government was designed to function with checks and balances and for too many years, those balances have been eliminated.
As a state, we recently received an appalling grade of “F” from The Center for Public Integrity. Not only does it mean that we end up wasting hundreds of millions of your hard earned dollars on failed projects like the Columbia River Crossing or Cover Oregon, but it means that our most vulnerable are put at risk, as in the case where DHS knew they were keeping children in a harmful situation and did nothing to stop it. For years.
It’s time to put special interests in their proper place, end payouts to political allies and work according to the highest ethical standards. I am committed to working across party lines to do what is best for the Oregon people, not politicians.
