As published in the Statesman Journal:
Officially, the qualifications for a person to run for our state’s Legislature are to be over 21 years of age and to have lived in the district for at least one year. Unofficially, I believe there are more important qualifications such as intelligence, resourcefulness and integrity. These are traits that House District 20 candidate, Laura Morett, possesses in abundance.
I have known Laura for many years and find her to be incredibly gifted in finding unique solutions to difficult problems both in business and in her personal life. Laura has skillfully raised three children to lead successful and productive lives. Her two grandchildren currently attend school in the Salem-Keizer School District where Laura volunteers and has done so for the past 22 years. Additionally, she has partnered with her husband to run a successful construction business while building solid friendships with their clients.
Laura knows what it means to provide jobs and to sign the front of someone’s paycheck. She understands the value of a dollar and the hard work it takes to earn a living. Laura does what she promises, stands up and follows through. Laura is a highly-qualified candidate in my book.
