It is always exciting to get mail. You know the old fashioned sealed in an envelope and stamped kind of mail? Earlier this week, the mail I received is reason for excitement. The voice of small business – the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) has endorsed my candidacy for State Representative!
In Oregon, there are more than 7,000 member businesses of NFIB and they employ more than 60,000 Oregonians. Small businesses, like the one my husband and I have owned and operated for 29 years, represent an overwhelming majority of the total businesses in Oregon and employ over half of the private sector workforce.
Rather than being recognized for the important role they play in our economy and community, our small business owners have been taking one hit after another from our current leaders. This is one of the key differences between me and my opponent who has an extremely poor, actually failing, voting record when it comes to supporting small business. I will fight for small businesses and the Oregonians who depend upon them every day.
In remembrance of our country’s founders who fought so valiantly for freedom and against the tyranny, I will be participating in the 4th of July parade hosted by the Monmouth-Independence Rotary. Please come out and celebrate with me as we work to bring common sense back to our state.
